Projects: Unforgotten Islands

This is a stirring documentary about the struggle of the Chagossians - natives of the Chagos Islands in the British Indian Ocean Territory. Deported by the British government in the late 1960s and early 1970s in order to establish a US military presence in the British Indian Ocean, they had one dream: to return home. This fascinating documentary traces their fight for justice, and was a very personal project for director and writer Michel Daƫron.

The film won the Fipa d'or Grand Prize 2011, along with the Jury of Young European Prize 2011 at the International Festival of Audiovisual Programmes.
