About us

With a combined twenty years of sound engineering behind us we have come together committed to producing results to the highest standards.

At 5A, we believe that you are just as important as your project, and having worked in cold and rigid studios in the past, we know what makes a relaxed and enjoyable session.

Our philosophy is to provide you with a welcoming atmosphere and as such 5A is staffed by individuals who understand your needs.

Whether you need to work outside office hours or the pressure is on and you need that mix as fast as possible, we are more than willing to hear you out and do what we can to accommodate. 5A is driven by producing the best sound possible, not the clock.

Whether you're a production company needing help with your latest project or this is among your first pieces of work give the team a call and let's discuss what we can do to assure you the highest quality service.

Cristina Aragón

Senior Recording Engineer

Whilst other children were catching insects and playing on swings Cristina was already backroom editing from vinyl to cassette. That passion took her from her native Mexico City where she worked in Radio UNAM to the prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts where she studied for a Diploma in Pop Music and Sound Technology and graduated with BA (Hons) in Sound Technology before acquiring her MA in Audio Production at the University of Westminster.

This led to work at Twickenham Film Studios where she worked on films such as The Good Thief with Nick Nolte, I Capture the Caste with Bill Nighy and The Hours with Nicole Kidman among others.

It was during her freelancing years whilst getting the chance to work on The Constant Gardener staring Ralph Fiennes that she decided to found 5A Studios with Mixing Engineer Michael Koderisch.

Today Cristina continues to spearhead 5A's development in-between working with clients, recently fulfilling her movie buff ambition by working on the first Hammer Horror production in twenty five years Beyond the Rave.

Michael Koderisch

Senior Mixing Engineer

It's not often it can be said of someone that they have 'music in the blood' but given Michael was raised in a family of musicians he seemed destined to become a sound engineer.

He started experimenting with synthesizers from the age of 14 and at the age of 17 started working for the renowned Sound and Gallerie in Germany doing live sound.

He earned a Diploma in Pop Music and Sound Technology and a BA (Hons) in Sound Technology from The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.

Michael is proud to have worked alongside his revered musical hero Pee Wee Ellis among others and has worked in conjunction with the BBC on a regular basis since 2001. Since the formation of 5A Studios Michael has mixed numerous projects for broadcast from documentaries to animation, award winning films like The Blue Tower as well as expanding into emerging technologies for mobile phone delivery and the internet.

Christopher H. Bourke

Sound Engineer

Christopher is 5A’s all star player having worked in both the US and the UK. He was already well versed in running studios before undertaking his M.A in Audio Production at the University of Westminster in 2003. Christopher has since been showered in accolades undertaking an astounding amount of work including audio engineering, lecturing/consulting, music production and managing A/V for conferences.

Throughout his career Christopher has been involved in Emmy and Grammy awarded productions and over the course of his incredible and varied time in the industry there is no problem he has not overcome or scenario left to surprise him.

His blend of experience and continued enthusiasm to get stuck into new projects makes a great addition to 5A.

Roland Bearne

Voice-over Artist

If you are looking for a flexible voice over artist, as an actor with three decades of varied experience Roland's enthusiasm is boundless. We are proud to associate ourselves with him given his unflappable nature and willingness to see the project to its end over and above the call of duty. Sharing the same passions as us makes him invaluable.

As well as regular voice-overs, including lip-synching and documentary narration he also has ten years experience in Audio Description appearing on such releases as Avatar, Quantum of Solace, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll, Milk, 500 Days (of Summer), and 44 Inch Chest. Not all work needs to be so succinct though and Roland's extensive VO work includes voicing a myriad of colourful computer game characters and bringing historical figures to life.
